Over the years that the The Australian Moke Forum has been in operation it has developed a specific personality and reputation and common feedback that we get about the forum is with regard to its level of quality advice and knowledge. This is not necessarily the norm as far as many car forums are concerned and it is something that we take pride in and will make every effort to protect.
Also while these rules and guidelines cover many common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure this Forum is not abused in any way or that the enjoyment of others is adversely impacted. These actions may include (but are not limited to) editing any part of, or whole post, signature, user title, avatar or anything in breach of community standards without warning, consultation or question.
We all know Mokes are fun, and we'd like to think our forum is too. Please read through these guidelines so you can help make it enjoyable for everyone.
For the enjoyment of others.
About Moderating on this Forum .....
Before the word moderator or moderating became maligned with bad or naughty posting it used to be about helping improve the quality of the Forum and coaching people on better posting and we are endeavouring to return to that definition of moderation of the Forum.
In the event you see something that you don't like, or you feel is not in the spirit of The Australian Moke Forum, please use the "Report to Moderator" button that is on the bottom of each post. All moderators will be notified, and will deal with your concerns as soon as possible.
Moderators are here to assist the smooth running of the forum, and you can help by respecting their decisions. Seeking clarification is fine, but remember they have lives too, so please be patient and understanding.
Things that are going to see you shown the door.
There are some types of posting that all forums suffer from at times and we will have little patience for dealing with the following types of posts or issues:
And the Consequences.......
Your use of The Australian Moke Forum constitutes acceptance and agreement to our Code of Conduct and these rules set the posting standards applicable to all members. If you violate the Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to terminate your account without prior notice. We prefer to advise users of inappropriate behaviour and ask them to modify their behaviour accordingly, however, flagrant and repeated violations will result in an immediate ban. Our failure to enforce this policy, for whatever reason, shall not be construed as a waiver of our right to do so at any time.
Mokes Inc., the owners of The Australian Moke Forum or those delegated by it, reserve the right to remove any member from the Forum who does not abide by these Terms, Rules and Guidelines. No further correspondence will be entered into.
The people responsible for this forum are Moke Enthusiasts who volunteer their time to ensure this resource can exist. All they ask is that you respect their efforts and make their job easier by following these guidelines.
Also while these rules and guidelines cover many common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure this Forum is not disrupted or abused in any way or that the enjoyment of others is not adversely impacted.
The Australian Moke Forum will also NOT TOLERATE abusive or demeaning posts or personal messages toward Moderators, Administrator or Members of the Forum Support Group. These people spend many, many hours keeping the forum running smoothly as well as enforcing these very Rules and Guidelines that ensure we have a pleasant environment with which to spend our time. Their contribution is unpaid, and well beyond the time we all like to spend reading the posts that are of personal interest.

We all know Mokes are fun, and we'd like to think our forum is too. Please read through these guidelines so you can help make it enjoyable for everyone.
For the enjoyment of others.
- If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. A bit of wise motherly advice that supports our intent to have a friendly space for people with Mokes.
- Have an opinion and respect the right of others to have theirs . Healthy discussion is fine, however show respect for other members and their opinions. An opinion is just that, an opinion, and opinions are neither right nor wrong and forums such as this are mostly about sharing opinions and own experiences. You are expected to accept other people's views of their own experiences and understand their right to make their own choices and mistakes to learn from.
- Because you can post doesn't always mean you should post. Before pressing the Post or Submit button re-read what you have typed and consider its value to the discussion and how it might be viewed by others. Self moderation is the best moderation.
- Your use and participation in this Forum is a privilege, not a right, and you are expected to treat it as such. While we have a open registration model, your continued involvement in this Forum is at the discretion of Mokes Inc. and its delegated representatives and we do not look favourably upon people who take the enjoyment and friendliness of the Forum away from others.
- This is a family friendly forum, so please use appropriate language. Out of context or excessive use of swear words or swear words that are thinly veiled by having a few symbols inserted, abbreviations and acronyms are not allowed. Language that most people would not use in a family social environment is not acceptable on this Forum. We are not prudes, but we aren't dragging our knuckles either.
- A bit of friendly chat/banter is encouraged, but remember this is a forum about Mokes. Too much Off topic posting is annoying to others, and may be deleted without notice, or later on if it is deemed not to provide any long term benefit to the thread or the Forum.
- Capital letters in posts is considered SHOUTING, and is not appreciated. We also prefer plain english, so leave the txt and twitter talk for elsewhere.
- When quoting a web page, please acknowledge the source. If you must post links to videos or websites, please do others the courtesy of advising them of the content so they can understand what they are linking to before they follow the link. Links with no description or context will be removed.
- We do not accept posts that are negative or derogatory towards a business or company. If you have had a less than satisfactory experience with a business or seller then please take it up with the entity concerned and do not attempt to use this Forum to air your grievance. If someone asks for recommendations you should pass on business you do recommend or any less than favourable feedback should be sent via PM to the individual asking.
- You are responsible for what you post and will be held accountable to the accuracy, legality and offensiveness of what you post. The administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible. We do not however wish to impose the restriction of approving every post and it is impossible to review every message instantly. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.
- Social Media style postings of short me-centric posts that are of little value should be avoided. Such will put you out of favour with the majority of members as the feedback we have received from members is they do not appreciate the Facebook type of short instant chat posts that increase the "Signal to Noise ratio" of posts.
- Use keywords relevant to your Post in the Subject. To help other people, and the automatic features of this Forum, find relevant posts please use keywords in the subject of your post . "I need help with moke" is not useful and is likely to get a less than enthusiastic response, where as "How do I fit the lower engine mounts" is clear and will get you a better response.
About Moderating on this Forum .....
Before the word moderator or moderating became maligned with bad or naughty posting it used to be about helping improve the quality of the Forum and coaching people on better posting and we are endeavouring to return to that definition of moderation of the Forum.
- Self moderation is the best form of moderation. Before submitting a post re-read what you have written and compare it to what may have been asked or subject of the thread and ask is it relevant and how may this be interpreted or viewed by others.
- Posts and threads may be moved, altered or removed from time to time either temporarily while it may be under consideration or in the future if is is no longer relevant. Our aim is to improve the long term quality of this Forum as a reference in the future so over time some posts will be removed to ensure the substance of threads remains concise and without too much 'noise', thus the banter might be removed from a post that makes it way into the FAQ section. The Admin/Moderators of the Forum also reserve the right to permanently delete posts which they believe contravene this Code of Conduct or any posts which are deemed to be detrimental to the Forum and or it's community, without warning, consultation or question.
- Do not make public posts questioning or condemning decisions made by the moderator(s) or administrators of this Forum. Feedback from the members strongly indicates that they would rather not read these types of posts and would prefer they were dealt with away from the public view. Your concerns, or suggestions for improvements, should be raised directly with a member of the Forum Support Group and they will take it to the others for discussion and may raise it publicly if if it deemed appropriate.

There are some types of posting that all forums suffer from at times and we will have little patience for dealing with the following types of posts or issues:
- Trolling and inflammatory posting will not be tolerated and will incur penalties or removal of access for the offender. Once again the feedback we have received say that people do not want to read the negative or personal attack type posts. Ignore people or threads that simply antagonise (don't feed the trolls) and use the Report to Moderator button.
- In the manner of trolling, posting unsubstantiated claims will see removal of the post and flagrant disregard and repeated attempts will see the user removed also.
- Offering your opinion in a way that is being critical of someone in a way that belittles or demeans their efforts will not be tolerated and will in most cases see a person placed on Post Watch or be removed.
- Members are allowed one user account only. People found to be misusing or attempting to create multiple accounts will see access to all accounts removed by all people involved. Do not let other people use your account or you may find yourself without access once discovered. The only exception to this rule is that Moderators and/or Custodians may have one extra account, however these are to be used purely for admin and/or test purposes. Posting under these secondary accounts is not permitted except for those purposes and even then, the post should contain full disclosure that the account is an admin test identity only.
- "We spend 90% of our time dealing with 10% of the members." An adage that has been around for a long time and familiar to anyone that has worked on a committee for a club of any reasonable size. People causing unnecessary and excessive effort on the part of the administration of this Forum to manage their activities will have their access to the forum restricted or removed.
- Due to past experience, Mokes Inc. and The Australian Moke Forum has implemented a zero tolerance policy for vexatious threats made against Mokes Inc., the Forum and its members. People making such legal threats or posturing will be removed without notice. We are here to chat about Mokes and not be bullied by legal actions or threats.
- Misuse or misrepresentation of the Mokes Inc. name, brand, logo or reputation. Mokes Inc. is a registered entity within Australia and people may not use the name or associated items of our brand without the express written permission of the committee. You may not represent yourself in any official manner as Mokes Inc. or The Australian Moke Forum without express permission to do so.
