Moke Ocean Road 2015 - Sunday the 1st February
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:19:42 PM »
Back on the Calendar for 2015 is a drive along the Moke Ocean Road for the first Sunday in February, not Saturday when it has usually run in the past. Meeting on the Geelong side of town at the Service Centre near Avalon airport before 9am ready for a 9am departure, so if you need to eat, arrive early. We we will bypass Geelong and head for the next pick up point at Anglesea, aiming to get there around 9:30-9:45 and meeting on the western side of the bridge near the grass park land.
Lycra legend Cadel Evans has put his name to a bike ride along the Great Ocean Road, not that they actually get to ride on the Great Ocean Road or are the even out of bed by the time we go past, however to avoid possible delays we are going to skip the photo shoot at Bells Beach this year.

Lunch will be a hunter and gatherer effort in a town or near some shops, probably not Lorne though this year, so no need to bring food if you don't want to but ensure you have a full tank of fuel when we leave the meeting point near Avalon to avoid  running out if we decide to take a big detour somewhere. At some stage of the day we will travel along the fun bits of the GOR either on the way down or the way depending on what the tourist are up to.

The day is just about going a for a drive and being friendly so all you need is a Moke, a full tank of fuel and a bit of slip, slop and slapping if you can't afford a roof for your Moke. We tend to get around 10 Mokes but hopefully by changing the run to a Sunday more people might be available for the drive.
