I removed the canopy/bows to do the resto, which is now complete.

I previously removed the canopy from the bows to do a few fixes and now need to know the best way to replace the canopy/bows.

Should I attach the canopy to the bows and then attach canopy and bows to the car or is it better to attach the bows to the car first and then attach the canopy to the bows?

Is it a 2 person job to attach the canopy/bows to prevent paintwork damage?

Do you have the seat belt material still screwed to the bows?

If not then you need to set up the bows in the correct spot which is usually where the joins are in the canopy.
Although I have never done I can see it will be a bit of a juggling act, you'll need to get the bows it the
rough location and somehow hold them there then put the canopy on then adjust bows to correct spot then
remove canopy and fix strap to the bows (usually screws through strap into bows) and top of windscreen and
top of back panel and then fix roof along back panel and throw it over the bows. Some people screw the roof
to the bows as well but usually not necessary.

Hi,

if you have new paint I would say get someone to help you place the hood bows into the mounts first and then get the webbing in place and then put the canopy on and then use the webbing to locate the bars relative to the canopy and then tighten it all down. You should screw the webbing into the bar in the right place but cover the screen with tape to stop it cutting into the hood.

As Moe said some will screw the hood to the bar but I agree don't do that.

Thank you for your replies; they were very helpful.

I have now fitted the canopy to the car.

I attached the canopy to the frame first and had my son help me attached the canopy and frame to the car; it was an easy job.
