About Around the Garage
« on: March 07, 2011, 06:04:08 PM »
Hi,

The Around the Garage is a place that attempts to create a virtual environment just like having a few mates over to your Garage where you talk about what you have done or are doing and then others can ask related questions.

You can set up your thread as either one for your Garage, see Maddog's Dog Blog  https://www.mokeforum.com.au/index.php?topic=6751.0, or you can create one for your Moke and/or each of your Mokes. Martin's Moke is a great example of one thread that has been following his rebuild over a couple of years  https://www.mokeforum.com.au/index.php?topic=3745.0. Experience has shown that people like to follow a person rebuild or repairs in one ongoing thread rather than lots of little ones.

It is easy to get off topic in these posts but generally if you post based on What you have done, What you are working on or What you are about to do then you are giving others a chance to share their own experiences in that particular area. So imagine a friend drops in and you are showing them over your progress and they ask questions or make comments and best of all you don't have to share your beers. :)

If you have a particular question you want to ask on a subject that would be of interest to others, then use the Help board. For exmple, 'How do I recondition the Starter Motor?' is better placed on the Help board with just a mention in your ATG thread that you are looking to overhaul the starter. From time to time your ATG thread may get a run of really good information on a subject, that is normal, just use your best judgement when asking questions.

If you don't already have one, start a thread for your Moke or your Garage and keep it up to date, no matter how small or insignificant the update. People are genuinely interested in what you are doing on your Moke.

Forum Etiquette and Features can be found here.
