Drivers side heater vent hose
« on: February 10, 2014, 07:34:23 PM »
Can someone please tell me how the heater hose threads through the parcel shelf from the heater box to the drivers side vent. My 81 Cali doesn't have the hose but I'm not sure where it goes when I get a hose. Over the steering Column (squashed) or around and under, right next to the pedals.A photo would be good. My manual has zilch.

Hi Stevo,

Your vents look a bit different to mine - they don't seem to line up with the holes in the dash too well. ??? I'll try and find a photo.

Anyway, as far as I know the hose should go under the pedal box, over the steering column, and around up through the hole. A drawing from the owners manual...

Cheers, MD.

Thanks MD, my vents are different. They are angled back towards the firewall and the drivers side off to the left where the hose hooks up. Passenger side is fine.
There is only half the 2" diameter to fit the hose through above the steering column.
May have to cut another hole through the parcel shelf.
Cheers

Stevo, as MD has pointed out you have the wrong vent, maybe you can find one before butchering your shelf. You may also find that the bend will be too sharp to get to the heater with that vent.

Thanks Pete, your advice is appreciated.
Its funny how they may be the incorrect vent fittings. The Moke was in storage for 20 years and untouched.
It looks like the passenger side vent would be better suited to the drivers side.
I'll swap them around and see if they line up better. Have'nt checked the passenger side properly yet as it is
still hooked up. It could be wrong as well.

Cheers

I have been informed by a gentleman of far greater knowledge than I, that the vents are from a Clubman Mini.
Learn something new every day eh ;D
