LPMokes 30th Birthday Run
« on: July 28, 2014, 10:55:20 AM »
Posting some pics of a small run the Paterson family did over the weekend for LPMOKES 30th Birthday.

We started off in Lara with the weather looking very average and the temperature at a massive 8 degrees, As im the interstater I got the short straw of driving smiley which only has a roof and no side curtains. So we all rugged up and headed off

The plan for the trip was to head to Lorne along the Great Ocean Road and grab some lunch then head back along the GOR to Ocean Grove then back to Lara.

The weather wasn't the only thing holding up on our way to Lorne, there were whales off the coast between Anglesea and Lorne so every tourist was driving at 40kmph and darting on and off the road so we never really got to wind the cars up. I decided being stuck in traffic is no way to celebrate my brothers birthday so we extended the trip the extra 30 odd kms to Wye river where we had a clear run.

For anyone who has never driven the GOR, get in your moke and get down there, I don't think there would be many better roads in this country to drive a moke especially when you wind them up a little.

We arrived (quite quickly) at Wye River hotel for lunch and then the havens opened up.

After lunch we slowly headed back to ocean grove then back to Lara, its fair to say I was a little wet by the time we arrived home.

Overall it was fantastic day even with the rain, its not often all 3 of us get together and have all 3 mokes on the road at once.

293KM trip of pure Family Fun!

Happy 30th LPMOKE!

Ryan

Great day out - well done for braving the weather! Mind you Geelong is much further south than Melbourne....! Regards to Laurie and Luke.

Good onya Ryan  8)
Looks like its fairly normal weather ;) .Well done for braving it.
We've driven the GOR heaps of times in the BV's. Fantastic drive no matter what the weather throws at you but yet to get the Moke there  ::).
Thanks for sharing it with us, winter isnt usually the best time for a run in the Moke, but its still great fun when you do 8)
Hope you had a Happy Birthday LPMOKE  ;D

Thanks for sharing with us Ryan.... and a belated ''Happy Birthday'' to LPMoke.

Samm and I drove the GOR on the way back east from Perth Mokefest last October so I totally agree with you that it's a great Mokin' road. It was definitely a 'must do' and we weren't going to pass up the opportunity.

What a fantastic way to spend a birthday with your family and Mokes. Great stuff 8)
