Friday - Bendemeer
« on: October 24, 2014, 05:52:13 PM »

Friday's destination is the pub at Bendemeer. Sounds good already! From Moke Central we head to Kootingal and Limbri on the blacktop then we'll get on to unsealed roads.

The starting lineup has grown since yesterday although these pics are not all the participants today as some will join us later:

Mellow Yellow:

Cool Breeze:

Jan and Colin's Farkle:

Homey's moke Percy (bless his little heart):

Moemoke/Dynky

Melbourne Rob:

Shorty's arrived withe The Boss:

And The Boss's personal Moke:

Terry's Desert Storm:

Newie rounds up the Mokerists for a pre-run briefing:

Our first rest stop (well, to be homest, we'd lost Mellow Yellow).....

The roads up to the Moonbi Range via Danglemah were very dusty as they've had very little rain here for quite some time:

Headed for Woolbrook on 29km dirt, then a further 8km dirt along Back Woolbrook Road to Congi Station and then onto the Bendemeer Hotel for lunch:

All safely tucked up in the pub car park:

After lunch some of us headed back to Moke Central directly, while another group were off in search of more dirt!  Although the day started cooler, by lunchtime the temerature had climbed into the mid-thirties so we chose the option of some cool shade and an even cooler beer back at Moke Central.

Great to see Shorty and Smithy join us today - probably more besides, but your correspondent is known for his inability to see Mokes unless there are at least thirty, and all blowing their horns......

Almost time to meet up for nibbles at Moke Central, so time to go.

Hmmm... we weren't really lost - the minibeast was enjoying the dirt so much we just kept going over the bridge and a bit further away. ;) ;D ;D

Some more shots of yet another great day ..........:

Cool Breeze, up front here at the Bendemeer Hotel lunch stop ... pity there was none of it in the weather forecast that day  ::) ;) :D

The return trip option we took was via a scenic mountainous road with a steep drop-off and switchbacks:

Well, we'd had an aMazying trip up until this point but had to put the brakes on it when the accelerator cable broke  ;)

Lucky it happened where it did and not earlier on the scenic road  :o
Many thanks to those who helped ... and to Dave G for the loan of a cable and to Newie for the subsequent escort into Tamworth where we snapped up (wrong words ;D) a bike cable before the shop closed.

Well done Mazy- glad to see you more keen to hit those dirt roads post Perth! I'd have been right there with you :)

I'm surprised a accelerator cable isn't in amongst your spares- considering how well prepared and organised you were for Perth.

Doesn't surprise me that it broke though- I had a hard time keeping up alot on the way back last year.

My avatar is of my moke infront of the Bendemeer Pub. I liked that place.

Well done guys.
