Saturday Hill Climb
« on: November 04, 2014, 07:38:10 PM »
By special request from Mazy I have uploaded my video from the drive up the Moonbi Ranges on our Saturday run.
A lot of safe fun. Sorry about the gear changes however needed when running a 3.4 diff.
Also sorry about overtaking the tour leader (I was only following Mazy) and it won't happen during Mokin' DownUnder as I will be the leader.
The video speed is times 2.
Great drag at the end between Sharadust and Mazy however a late gear change by Grant saw him pull back into the lead.
Always got to be on the lookout as to where Smokey is with that power plant but think he may have been a late start to the climb.
Thanks Vicky for starting the fun, was certainly good practice for my 12 laps around Bathurst a few days later.

Please note that no laws were broken or Mokes destroyed during the filming of this video.

Great stuff there Rod. Already got a couple in my mind for March.
Are you sure that was only X2.
Or does Faye always sound like that?
Gee it looks like you guys had a great time.

Well done to all who went and a special thanks to the organisers.

How good was that! Thanks, MMD (and Mazy & Sahara Dust, and all other Mokers in the video too).

Got to go and view it again  ;D ;D ;D

I have to say, Go Pro videos of people driving along the road don't normally do it for me and usually don't do justice to the great drive that the person was trying to record and share. That one was great though  8). As KMC said, I had to go back and watch it again. Thanks for sharing Rod :)

I was Tail End Charlie that day so didn't get to play with the front runners - not that my 998 could have kept up with them anyway, it's more of a downhill racer  ;) but knowing the road, I'm sure Rod is correct in saying it was done safely, as it's a perfect bit of dual carriageway up a steep section for racing each other without having to break any laws or take any real risks.

You front runners certainly had a better (and less scarey) run up than those of us at the back on that day  :-\. The very small pull over area at about 1:59 on the video is now known by Newie Jr and myself as "Dynky's corner" and somehow managed to fit a sizeable pantech truck and three Mokes into it after a very near miss (well actually more of a slight hit) at the rear end of the convoy  :o :o :o. We weren't doing anything dangerous either. More of a case of a frustrated truck driver who didn't bother to check his mirrors and blind spot properly before changing lanes  >:(

Wow MMD, that put a smile on my dial.

I remember seeing mokes going past me. I was busy concentrating on getting up the hill and keeping the mini beast in one piece. Like Newie, I watched Dynky being severely crowded by the truck right before my eyes. A scary sight. I couldn't beleive what I was seeing.   >:(
