Hi,

You can take a jerry can or platic container but it must be empty/dry and not have a little bit of fluid swishing around in the bottom. Leave the cap off on yours on the way down, assuming it is not raining, and let the dregs evaporate and you should be okay by the time you board.

On one of the trips over I had to empty my 10lt red container at the checkpoint into everyone else's Mokes until it was empty and then they let me carry in the back of the Moke.

If we are now talking about the Spirit of Tas and transport regulations, it is quite simple. The Spirit of Tas, is a passenger/car ferry and as such. It would be legislated that it must not cart dangerous goods. Fuel, gas, ammunition, are all classified as dangerous goods and as such cannot travel on the passenger ferry. Although a car has fuel in it, it is not classified as a dangerous good and can travel freely. There would be a small area designed and ventilated to carry gas bottles as they are part of a stardard camper set up.

They just need to dot their 'i's' and cross there 't's'

If you car has a hole in it then it wouldn't be a sealed container and so no you can't take your Moke. :)

Hi fellow 27 Feb SoT travellers, do you know what time you'll be arriving in the Port Melbourne area?

Just wondering where the best place will be to meet those travelling from the North.

We'll be coming from the East but trying to miss the GP setting up at Albert Park.

My thoughts at the moment for group parking are along Beach Rd, a carpark in Waterfront Place which
may be only for SoT travellers that are waiting to board, or there is a Coles supermarket in Bay street which
I guess will have free parking so maybe we could group up there, or finally there seems to be a couple of
parks (Lagoon Reserve) a couple of blocks away which have on street parking but not sure.

I would rather be in the area earlier rather than latter so don't mind spending an hour or so waiting some nice.
I'm only using Google maps for these ideas so not sure of the accuracy.

Anyone have other ideas?

Hi,

There is a few sections of parallel parking, for those with trailers, parkland with toilet and nice beach access for those that want a swim at Westport Reserve on The Blvd to the left of Station pier. There are no shops nearby.

Thanks Moemoke, I had a few looks on google maps and only a few spots nearby looked like a good spot.
Westport Reserve looks the goods though. Plenty of room for those with Kids or Husbands to run around after being in the car so long  :D. Thanks for the suggestion Terry.
There is a car park near the end ( close to the Life Saving Victoria Building). Or parking all along the Boulevard as well.
Is there a Toilet block? Hard to tell cause the street view doesn't get in there.
So if everyone thinks its a good spot to catch up and get into a group before boarding, let us know so we can set it on the GPS as our destination :)  8)
Look out Taz, were a comin  ;D

Hi,

The toilet block is on the Boulevard closer to the houses than the SLSC. I saw it in the Streetview, it is just off the footpath near the road.

Hey Halfpint - its very easy to get there without tolls. Let me know (now you have my number) when your near the ice creamery and Ill either meet you there or on the road as you leave.

Getting very excited now - never been on the ferry before!!

Are we all going to board as a group, if so I guess we will wait for Cabby.
It would be nice if we can all disembark at the same as I think there may be a few
waiting in Devonport.
