Sooo...... What are everyone's thoughts on white?

I think it wouldn't be Cool Breeze anymore if you paint it white.

And during your winters how will you tell if it is iced over if you paint it white.

Kell makes a very good point about white and Queensland, and you'd have to get a blue top!

And Terry's right about the ice - if you parked CB outside during the winter!  ;)

No, I'm afraid they don't....  :-\. I mean, I have nothing against white Mokes, or Mokes of any colour in fact.

The problem is that they are just not quite as good as yellow Mokes, which everybody knows is the best colour  ;D

It was very briefly white, but then again we discovered during prep that it has also been red, sky blue, orange and dark blue at various stages of it's life, so why not white too?

It was only white for a few hours though. Just a painter's trick to make the yellow paint cover better and look brighter than if it was painted straight onto the grey primer.

A colour change was never part of the plan, but admittedly it was a strange few seconds when the painter suggested "you know you could easily paint it another colour if you like"

Terry probably said it best though - It wouldn't be Cool Breeze if it isn't yellow.

Maintaining the yellow theme .. regardless it will look good and have that restored “feel” once all completed.

More progress today, with the "interior" getting a much needed coat of grey panel fleck

BEFORE

AFTER

To date, I have put up with several thin layers of light and dark grey rubbish paint, the top layers of which could be scraped off in places with your fingernail. Also, many unnecessary holes have been removed although a few still remain and some brackets were sprayed over which will theoretically be removed and sprayed under at a later date. No time today though, as allocated time for shed space has expired (this wasn't part of the original deal) so a quick mask up, hit with a wire brush, and prime/panel fleck. Much nicer than it's ever looked in my time and hopefully a practical, hard wearing finish for many years to come.

BTW, body colour shows up as a creamy yellow on my laptop screen - not sure about others - but trust me, it's a bright shiny yellow in real life  8) 8) 8). Compared it against an as yet unrestored cover panel (this weekend's job) and its a shade or two brighter than the old colour (less black in the mix) but still similar.

Hi,

it has come up very nice. You wont be wanting to drive off the bitumen with it for a few years now.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Haven't owned a vehicle yet that I  don't want to drive off the bitumen Terry. ...and certainly see no point in gravel free Moking  ;).  Not that the first few stone chips won't be a little bit cringe worthy,  but will all be part of building CB's character back up.

Deliberately done well before Round Up to give the paint a chance to harden up before the test runs start in a few months though  :)

Hi,

now that you can see the real side panels did you see anything in the repairs to suggest why they went with the flat panels?

Thanks Andrew. I was a bit nervous about it,  but very pleased with how it's come up.

Terry

I can only assume the original side panels were too badly rusted or damaged to repair.  The top panels (original) had 25 x 25 angle welded to them and the 2mm gal sheet was partially plug welded to the angle and then fully welded to the top panel and new floor.

Presumably too hard to get the repro panels at the time of the original resto, or considered too expensive. Admittedly, although I  consider it money well spent to get the proper panels,  two sheets of flat gal sheet would have been much cheaper and easier.
