Magnetic Island
« on: May 28, 2017, 05:56:39 PM »
Hi all
Just spent a week on Magnetic Island   :)  ;D  8)
And just could not resist the temptation to hire this little beauty for the day.
It is 1980 998 and it was great fun to run around in

Also found these ancient markings on one of the light poles

In total I spotted 3 private and 4 rentals I guess there were more around but anyone you spoke to said the Moke numbers were severely depleted due to the cost of keeping them on the road .
All the same I had a great time with this yella fella.

P.S being Yellow didn't make it go any faster (I don't think ?)

Fatal traffic crash, Magnetic Island
QPS Media on Jun 2, 2017 @ 6:23am
Two men have passed away this morning after being involved in a single vehicle traffic crash on Magnetic Island.

Shortly after 1.00am police were called to the crash at Sooning Street, Nelly Bay and discovered a mini moke had left the roadway and collided with a power pole after failing to negotiate a roundabout.

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old, female driver of the vehicle was taken to the Townsville Hospital with unknown injuries

The Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is urged to contact police.

Small world I was on Maggie from Saturday to Wednesday this week, back in Singapore now. Not many Mokes around.
Very sad about the crash. I posted the link to the Townsville Bulletin to Moke Chat this morning.
Cheers

Watto and I rented the same Moke a couple of years ago!

Synchro on second was weak and a front CV was noisy.  Otherwise it seemed a good one!
