Hi,

I have not seen flair as such, my moke has black rubber bolted to the inside of the gaurd, with metal behind to shape. I am going to remove and make a template, as I need another 4 for my resto moke i am doing up.

I also work for an engineering company, we have made custom flares for our fire appliances we build. It is time consuming. A 25mm thick (or thicker if required) bit of MDF gets machined (usally with a router bit) to the shape of the flair required, this is the used to make a rough part, the part must be 100 % true, then a mould is made, the more parts. a 25 - 40 hr task to get the parts.

Hi Daniel,

Try contacting "Fibremaster" in Sydney - 02 9672 7281. They had a website up with - Mini Moke. Flares - set of 4. LLMODT-00 but now when you go to that page it doesn't exist. No idea of the price either!!.

Seem to recall seeing a photo of a moke in Qld with those type of guards and it looked pretty good.

Anyway might be worth investigating...

Cheers,

Daniel,

I have been working on making replca sets of the rubber flares with a few improvements over the factory one. My first run is going to be 10 sets, front and rear, including Stainless steel brackets, bolts and plastic washer so it doesn't cut the paint work.

If you go to the Whats new section of www.moke.com.au you will see there was a products page created, but not added yet to the website, where i am detailing the products I am putting together.

Others things in the pipe line are Windscreens, Rear seats, late model side screens.

G'day Andrew,

I'd be very interested to see what you can come up with, I was thinking of attempting making some templates up my self and getting some new  improved rubber guards mad up....
think i'll let the experts try first  8)

Cheers,
Daniel.

making fibreglass flares is hard work. you'll need to make 4 moulds before you can make the flares. much better to get them folded up out of sheet metal. have seen a few like this and they dont look too bad.

1976 Moke(Scarlet) current project,
1974 Moke with Suzuki GTI motor (project),

Hi,

Regarding the fibreglass moulds, I have a set I can put my hands on if anyone really wants a set copied, but I am still working on my Fibreglass skills @:-)

Terry,

Would love to see some Pic's of these fiberglass flares too see how the bolt on/attach to the wheel arches...
Are these the actual flares or the mold/template for the flares that you can get a hold of?

Daniel.

Daniel,

the bits I can get are the actual flares, so they will need to have a mould taken etc.

They probably aren't that good for your situation as they don't protrud much past the guard, unlike the rubber ones which can be used to hide a pretty wide tyre.

I will post some photo's when I can get a hold of them next.
