G'day from the Nation's Capital
« on: April 30, 2018, 09:27:55 PM »
Joined the ranks of proud Moke owners on the weekend. Drove up to Fennel Bay NSW, to takeover ownership of a 1980 Moke. Jarrod drove 'Mokee Moke' (that's what we have christened him) up on to the car trailer and handed over the keys. We departed shortly after and made our way back to Canberra.
Despite working before we left, Mokee Moke's clutch does not disengage now, nor does the handbrake work too well either! I suspect the car has been sitting around for sometime and the sudden reactivation of the car and the 400km trailer trip shaking the car about has upset the flow of things.
Never mind, now I get to practice my mechanic skills from an era past (read mid '80s). Hopefully there are some threads on clutches and handbrakes.
Cheers,
Greg

Hi,

if it has been sitting around for awhile then I would suggest you also take the wheels off and check for leaks around the brake salve cylinders as I think the brakes tend to suffer the worst from sitting around.

Welcome to the Forum.

Yep. Fair chance both clutch and brake fluid is contaminated. Also a good way to check for leaks at the same time.

Thank you for the warm welcome and sage advice re brakes and clutch servicing. This weekend will be time to get up close and personal with Mokee Moke.
I would put some pictures up of my Moke, but have yet to master the program.
Cheers,
Greg
