Thermostat housing fitting.

I have removed the head and I am in the process of rebuilding. Is this correct.The thermostat should be rebuilt in this order :- Gasket, Spacer, Gasket, Steady, Gasket, Housing, Rad support?? or should it be :- Gasket, Steady, Gasket, Spacer, Gasket, Housing, Rad support??

Front or rear facing thermostat?

The engine is a 998cc with a 1100cc head. The housing is rear facing.
