G’day.. in the market for my first moke!
« on: January 06, 2019, 06:34:55 PM »
Howdy all.. Adam from Botany NSW here...

Thought I’d say a quick hello after spending most of my Xmas break lurking and reading as much as I can about the beautiful little machines that are Mokes!  :D

I’m new to the game but keen again getting my first Moke.. I’m looking for something later model in decent condition that I can drive straight away and just do bits and pieces over time with as little time off the road as reasonably possible.. I suspect like you all I will fall even more in love once I have my first time, so I expect to hold onto the car for the long term and just go with the flow of working on it over the years..

Looking forward to learning more and hopefully getting ahold of a nice example soon.. will keep an eye for any events to hopefully meet the crew and see as many Mokes as possible!! 8)

G'Day Adam,
Mokes are fun when their reliable, and testing when they play up, but I wouldnt have it any other way.
There are quite a few Mokers around your way and occasionally organise runs or gatherings.
Good luck with your hunt for a Moke, they are out there if your keen.

Cheers

Thanks Halfpint.. that’s all part of the appeal! Whilst I don’t want a full project car, I do consider it’ll be an ongoing project simply owning a Moke that I expect to drive regularly..

Would be great if you can point me in the direction of any Mokers around me, I haven’t spotted any on the road or the forum for that matter! I’d really love to check out a few, even if not for sale..

Oh, btw, how do I upgrade my profile to standard membership?

You are already upgraded to a standard member.
Keep an eye on the "Moke Events " board.
Then there is "Moke Events Chat" or "Moke events Callender" that a few groups of good Mokers regularly add some get togethers. These are very knowledgeable Mokers and also keen adventurers  8)

Once you find the Moke, and someone isn't convinced :'( then maybe suggest, "Well I guess I will get a Motorbike then"!!  ;D

Lol, I like you’re thinking Pete.. unfortunately that’s part of the problem - I already have a motorbike! I’m a proud triumph bonneville owner already.. “too many toys” she says..

Welcome Adam
You will find this forum inspiring.
Interesting what Pete said. A few years ago my wife wanted to buy a motorbike so I got her the Moke. Now of course I drive the Moke  whenever we are in Townsville and as you can guess she is looking at bikes again.

Thanks Dale.. indeed it is inspiring.. the reality is until I read the forum (almost cover to cover!) I thought a Moke might not be for me, but now I’m so inspired and keen!!

Love the Trumpys, nearly got a Street Triple last year but went with a VFR and very happy.
I ride most days unless wet or over 32 deg which is when Mighty Moke takes over.
My wife hates the moke so I got her a bike  ;D
