MOKE YJB
« on: March 24, 2019, 11:52:39 PM »
Hi fellow moke enthusiasts,

I would like to say a big HELLO to everyone here from czech republic, Europe.

In the past I renovated some Mokes to my friends and now FINALLY I bought my own australian moke. Which makes me sooo happy always wanted this one with the big wheels. The previous owner had it for 40 years, bought from new and it was in Vienna, Austria.

It has 1300 ccm engine, brake discs in the fronnt, petrol tank on the back. Im in process of changing the petrol tank to the side because the exhaust is kinda to low now as it is. I have original softop for it. but I made new with better closing system (zip). I couldnt believe it when I found the original owners handbook.

Looking forward to have some fun with it!

Hi,

welcome.

If the fuel tank is an original in the rear then exhaust pipe normally goes around the tank and not under it.

It would be interesting to see if it is a genuine Export Moke.

I have updated your access to be able to post up photos.

Hi guys,

thanks for the warm welcome. So what should I make photo of? If there is VIN somewhere where is it located? Or it had only a plate? If so I dont have any on the car...

Thanks

Hi,

just a picture of the Moke in general and from that we can probably say what it is and maybe direct you to where the numbers are located.

My Export is a 1973 model, so yep - over 40 years old...

Hi,

it is a genuine Export Moke or Original Californian Moke from 1970-73.

The body number should be stamped along a small metal edge to the right of the radiator along the panel with the flutes to let the air out above the guard, where the blue line is in the picture. It is normally only a small piece of metal with a couple of holes in it about 10-15mm wide.

thanks for pointing me to the VIN code location. It is there and correct one!
Im just working on engine and gearbox and I have aluminium tank being built to the side of the car. Also the negatives for front and rear.
I will try to put here some more pictures.

Hi,

that is some nice history there, to have all the original books, including a picture of the vehcile which is something that never happened locally.

Have you owned it since new?

I have it only 2 month so far. But I was working on a few Mokes already before. Next week I will finish it, and start with registration and licence plates. Here a few new pictures.
