ignition

Hi Mokers
Well yesterday was a big step in my full nut and bolt rebuild , I started the engine , not without problems , I have fitted EFI and in the kit I had to run one wire to power constant and the other wire to ignition (so power when key is in the run position) my problem was when you turn to crank engine the power drops out on the ignition wirer , is this normal or would the contacts in my key be dirty ? can I take barrel out and clean ? how do I get the barrel out ?
I had to run a hot wire to get it running

Cheers Cheezle

Hi,

are you sure you connected to the ignition and not the Aux?

When the key is in the Ign position, both Ign and Aux are active, but when you go to around to Start only the Ign is active, the Aux is disconnected.

Hi Terry
You maybe right I could be connected to Aux and not ignition , Im suspicious of the key as you do need to wriggle to get it to crank I think it might be dirty or green contacts in there , Im told it hasn't been turned for at lest 25 years
I will go and test
