Spotlights
« on: September 17, 2019, 09:15:30 AM »
Hi All,

I recently purchased some Lucas SFT 576’s for the moke I’m building.
I wanted to mount them in the removable grille, similar to the in-grill spotlight kits you can get
For the Mini clubmans.

The spotlights are the rear mount type, with a screw poking out the back of the housing.
The idea is to get a round metal pipe, just bigger than the diameter of the spotlight - weld this into the grill, and spotlights will have a recessed/integrated look.

I bought the moke in pieces, so would someone be kind enough to measure how much clearance I have from the front of grille until I hit the started and alternator?
I want to fit the spotlights in the bottom corners of the grill.

I’ve looked all over the net, and not seen anything like this: maybe for a reason?
Any thoughts?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,
Here you go.
So 3 grill gaps down on the left side it’s about 60mm in to the Alternator, plenty of room below.

On the right hand side, 2nd grill gap up from the bottom is about 70mm to the starter motor.

Hope it helps  :)
Cheers

I would consider a angle or channel section going across the full width of the grille to mount the lights on.

Happy Mokin
