Brake wheel cylinder kits
« on: October 13, 2019, 07:47:45 PM »
Hello Everyone,

Does anyone here know where i can buy rear wheel cylinder kits in Australia.  I found some in the UK, Mini Spares but surely there must be someone in Australia that sells them.  I am looking for 3/4" kits.

It seems that complete wheel cylinders are available fairly cheap, i have a set coming from SA but i would like to rebuild my old cylinders as they are in good nick and spares would be nice.

Cheers
Dave

I don’t think you’ve been able to buy kits for years, new cylinders are so cheap these days.
Have you tried a brake specialist, maybe you can buy the seals and boot individually.
1976 Moke 1275cc (Dynky),
1976 Moke(Scarlet) current project,
1974 Moke with Suzuki GTI motor (project),
1975 Moke rust bucket,
1967 Moke rust bucket

Hi,

there are kits and they used to be in clear bags with yellow print, can't think of the brand. The wholesaler where I used to buy them locally was trying to sell his business a few years ago and the factory is now empty but I haven't found if anyone took over.

Look up a retailer called Darby's in Plenty Road Preston as they used to deal with the same wholesaler and they seem to be able to find all sorts of old stuff. Or try Minisplus in Bayswater, I think they have some of the kits available for brake and clutch.

And if your old ones are genuinely old and not the crap new'ish ones, then I would even consider SS resleeving them if they weren't also done by the same wholesaler that sold up or retired. :(

Thanks Terry, the old seals are Lockheed marked so i'm guessing they are genuine cylinders.

I'll give Minisplus a try, thank you.
