Another Wiper Parking Problem
« on: June 03, 2020, 12:18:42 PM »
Hi Spider,

Reviving this post instead of starting another.

Have been reading your and Maddog's write ups on rewiring for self parking wipers.  I started by using Maddog's method, which is simply connecting terminal 53a of the motor to a fused power source (https://www.moke.com.au/in-the-garage/electrics/60-moke-wiper-wiring-secrets-revealed).  This worked fine for one of the motors I have.  However, the second motor wouldn't quite park. It tried to each sweep, but then just kept going.

I have the second motor out of the car and can watch the action of the motor parking switch as I turn the motor manually. The switch arm moves and appears to make good independent contact with the other contacts.  So I am a bit reluctant to try bending the arm as my next step.

Would your method (https://www.mokeforum.com.au/index.php?topic=6217.msg68532#msg68532) potentially solve this problem as it incorporates the brake function if I understand correctly?

Cheers, Graham

P.S.  Been lurking on this site for years.  Going to open an In the Garage thread and introduce my Moke and I soon.
