Yep HP, check the new seals closely.

I am very interested in your opinion of the nolathane bushes when you get to try them.

Hi HP,

I'd love to say urethane is the answer - but I'm very disappointed with the bushes I fitted to my Landcruiser.

Probably four years old, unregistered ute that has done less than 2000km, and completely disintegrated.

I have gone the other way and swapped them out for rubber. Much better ride and feel, but like most things these days I doubt they will last any longer. ::)

Cheers, MD.

There is urethane and there is urethane.
I make after market pin and bush kits for OKAs that use urethane bushes. In 9 years I have never had one back or seen one that was worn out. I recently changed my own after 70,000km without lubrication and I should have left them alone.
The pins are 20mm diameter and I run about 3.5T on the rear axle.

These are the ones I've ordered. I got a few sets, Gulliver hasnt been touched since he was built back in 2011.

The bushes I supply are one piece right through and have no head flanges. The head flanges are to accommodate side thrust and they failed on some early prototypes I made.
I now use steel washers or hardened shims for the side thrust.
If you have access to a lathe, a set of urethane bushes like that would be an easy DIY job. Urethane is available as bar and can be machined.  Some commercial ones I checked were 88 Shore A hardness. Mine are 93, but carry a higher load.

I have some purple ones in use that came from the UK. That are holding up well. Not sure of the make but I think they came from minispres.
Cheers Dave.

My urethanes failed like your rubber ones, I have gone back to rubber.

We have movement  ;D

What a story HP, I have been reading this all day in between unloading a ship, don't tell the boss.

I love your paint work, it looks so thick and durable.  I read you originally had a two pack before it unfortunately found its way into some farmers dam.   You didn't really detail what was involved in the second paint job or maybe I missed it?

Anyway I have a gal moke with paint falling off it and some rust in the front foot well.  What would you recommend I do to the body after striping it totally of chassis parts and sending it off somewhere to get painted.    Do you sandblast to strip the gal off for a good paint job stick or is their some new product which makes paint stick to gal and look as good as yours?

Thanks Brad

Cheers Brad,
Yep, a long history with PRU.
The 2 pack paint was very durable, but it was no match for a bingle.
I took the shell to a business who could bead blast the paint off without damaging the Gal too much. A light coat of etch primer was sprayed on straight away and thats how I delivered it back to the panel shop.

The only panel I didnt have the paint bead blasted off was the bonnet. It came off my other Moke. Originally it was bead blasted and I painted it for Gullivers Build.
The bonnet had a few paint issues with some "Crow footing" so I had them re paint it.
While he was doing it, I had him put the Californian stickers on before the clear coat.
I Only got it back on the weekend.

Cheers

Thanks HP,

It looks so sweet, road trip I'm guessing this weekend.  Just be careful, PRU has nearly broken your heart twice.
