A Fortunate Trip
« on: September 13, 2020, 10:43:50 AM »
Hello folks During 2019 we decided to go on a trip that would provide the opportunity to follow up on some of Sharons ancestors.  The trip did turn up some real ancestor surprises along with meeting people, visiting places and seeing new things.  Given the events of this year the decision to go was opportune.
We have attached a few photos of Mokes and Minis at Gaydon Motor Museum to celebrate 60 years of the Mini. How would going to Moke events be related to ancestors?  Cannot imagine!! :D

Excellent thanks for showing.
Opportune trip indeed given the current events.
I was over in the UK in 2000 for undesirable family events, but a highlight was to go to Longbridge for the rolling out of the last ever Mini. It was a brief respite from other less happy events.
Cheers, Dave

Hello folks. Sometimes fortunate things just happen.  Can you believe the weekend after the Gaydon 60th celebration of the Mini The Bristol International Mini Meet (IMM) was scheduled at a farm near Bristol. So Monday morning quick 3 odd hour rail trip Bristol.  The IMM was a three day event attended by about 10000 people Camping in the paddocks with a high level of organisation.  The weather was just awful wind and rain and lots of people with Welles. But never mind.

With events like this just as many interesting things to see in the paddocks as there was in display areas. Cars from all over Europe and beyond.

As expected with an event like the IMM heaps and heaps of minis. Lots of vendors but biggest sites were mini sport and mini spares. Not surprising.

Have attached some photos you may find interesting. Have split them pt1 and pt2 to follow

Cheers

Great timing there Grant.  Sounds like the (alleged) primary purpose of the trip was very productive too, but you managed to get a great Moke/ Mini side trip in.

As others have said,  thanks for going to the effort of sharing
