Rear wing replaced.
« on: October 23, 2020, 01:04:56 PM »
My rear drivers side wing was drooping down and not level. It obviously had been in an accident and was badly repaired. I started to remove, what I thought was a thin layer of body filler, but it turned out to be around 10mm to 15mm thick.

I decided to remove the wing and replace it with new parts.

I cut out  most of the wing and then attacked the rest with an air chisel and grinder.

This removed the spot welds and the remaining metal. I cut out the back lip and inserted the new parts.

Once I was happy with the fit a mate and I started to weld up the new parts.

After a bit of wrangling and hole filling the wing is replaced.

Now that is done the rest of the bodywork looks like it needs some TLC so off to the body shop for a respray.

Hi,

that is very nicely done.

I am cutting out a few old repairs from a bermuda triangle on a Moke I am working on for someone else and I keep suffocating on the clouds of body filler dust. :)

Are you going for the same Green or a new livery?
