Moke Repairs - Perth
« on: January 07, 2021, 04:12:10 PM »
Hi guys, brand new to this forum, so apologies in advance if I`m asking this question in the wrong place etc... I`ve got a 1972 Californian that is jumping out of 1st and 2nd gear on occasion. Looking for someone in WA that does these repairs. Moke is in exceptional condition, so would prefer someone reputable if that makes sense? Thanks in advance. Cheers

Hi,

depending on the gearbox it could be an issue like gear change mounts or lower engine mounts that are knocking it out of gear.

Jumping out of gear in many cases comes down to it not actually going into gear fully in the first place so checking over the linkages on a '72 gearbox might solve the issue for you.

Thanks for the reply Terry. I think you are on the money with the "not going in, in the first place" thing. Do you know anyone in WA that does this kind of work? Cheers

Very little in the way of tools or experience is required to check the things Terry has described.
Simple to check the engine moving excessively on its mounts. Also easy to check the gear shift mounts.
Some pictures may help us to help you.
