Rivets
« on: February 23, 2021, 12:24:10 PM »
Hi Guys and Girls,

What Pop rivets are best for the windscreen surround, lift the dot posts.  My car had aluminium rivets but i am now wondering if stainless steel might be an option.
I know with the alloy rivets if they came loose i could just "tap" them with a center punch to tighten them.  Somehow i don't think stainless ones could be just taped without breaking the screen.

Has anyone used stainless, do they come loose?

Thanks
Dave

I have just put the wind screen back with ally rivets as they are much softer than the glass if there is any rubbing through the rubber seal - my theory anyway. All rivets have the centre mandrel hole sealed and then painted to stop corrosion.

Thanks Mission,

I guess if the alloy ones were fitted as standard and they can be "taped" to tighten them, I will just go with them.  Don't fix it if it's not broken works for me.

Cheers
Dave
