Yep HP, check the new seals closely.

I am very interested in your opinion of the nolathane bushes when you get to try them.

Hi HP,

I'd love to say urethane is the answer - but I'm very disappointed with the bushes I fitted to my Landcruiser.

Probably four years old, unregistered ute that has done less than 2000km, and completely disintegrated.

I have gone the other way and swapped them out for rubber. Much better ride and feel, but like most things these days I doubt they will last any longer. ::)

Cheers, MD.

There is urethane and there is urethane.
I make after market pin and bush kits for OKAs that use urethane bushes. In 9 years I have never had one back or seen one that was worn out. I recently changed my own after 70,000km without lubrication and I should have left them alone.
The pins are 20mm diameter and I run about 3.5T on the rear axle.

The bushes I supply are one piece right through and have no head flanges. The head flanges are to accommodate side thrust and they failed on some early prototypes I made.
I now use steel washers or hardened shims for the side thrust.
If you have access to a lathe, a set of urethane bushes like that would be an easy DIY job. Urethane is available as bar and can be machined.  Some commercial ones I checked were 88 Shore A hardness. Mine are 93, but carry a higher load.

I have some purple ones in use that came from the UK. That are holding up well. Not sure of the make but I think they came from minispres.
Cheers Dave.

My urethanes failed like your rubber ones, I have gone back to rubber.
