Canberra to Tamworth
« on: October 17, 2012, 08:48:00 PM »
Split this post from Melbourne-Tamworth thread....terry

Planning on leaving Canberra Tuesday going via Goulburn, Taralga, Oberon, Bathurst (probably overnight), Sofala, Werris Creek to Tamworth

At Noosa at the moment so will probably go (home CBR) via Bathurst, Abercrombie to Canberra as this is also an interesting bit of road - last time we travelled through Abercrombie some bits were gravel so will check it out as an alternative to through Taralga

cheers

Grant

The road from Oberon through to Goulburn via Abercrombie is now all sealed.

Great Moke road.

Make sure you cut across from Merriwa to Willow Tree Grant. Some great Moke road sections along there. Used to be quite a bit of gravel down the range there, but they are gradually tarring it all. I spoke to a mate last week who came back from Bathurst that way and he said there is now only a couple of K's of gravel left.

How are you going with all your prep mate?  :D

G'day young fella,

It's been a madhouse around here over the last few weeks and Stealth Moke has had to take a back seat.  I hope to be picking the hoist today and have engine out tonight or tomorrow.  I'm not sure how I'll go over the next few days but I think Tamworth is coming up too quickly for my level of skills in finishing this job.  I haven't registered for that reason.  If I can make it, I will be there.  Seems pretty pathetic after seeing what you boys have achieved over the last few months but I'll see what I can do.

Cheers
Peter

(PS - You guys have done a fantastic job.)
