heading off
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:35:20 AM »
G'day,
I thought i'd post our plans for leaving for Perth here
for others to consider and maybe join our convoy as we make
our way to the main meeting point at Port Augusta on Sunday
evening 15th or Monday 16th of september before leaving on
Tues 17th for the trip across with the "Big convoy".
The reason for the non definate arrival date in in Port Augusta
is things may change a little as we meet up with other mokerists
along the way.
Ruth and I as well as Vicki in Mazy will be leaving Nowra Sat 14
where we will drive to the Yass service centre to meet others who
are coming from Sydney or Canberra way. At about 9.30 am. This
is flexible if you are travelling further and want to meet us so let
me know.  From there we'll leisurely travel on to Hay or beyond
depending how we're going for our first night.
Hay also may be a good meeting place for others to meet us who
may be coming from the North. Yass to Hay is about 450 Km about
a 6 hour drive.
Samm would like to join us so hopefully that will suit. Also it looks
like Shorty is planning to do the same but turning off to Tumut to
see his daughter off. Maybe he could travel with us and duck off
and then catch us up along the way when we stop for lunch. Just
a thought.
I'm not planning to rush. Hay to pt Augusta is about 800 km So
a sleep over on Sunday 15th somewhere along the way will be more
than likely. We'll go with the the general concensus of the group at
the time. Bearing in mind rest stops and minor (hopefully) hiccups
along the way.
let me know if you want to join up, where and when and any other
thoughts.
                   cheers Biggles :)

Hi Tony,
Sounds like a fair plan.
I was thinking of going via Melbourne to try and catch up with some people down there that may not be joining us in Perth.

I'd much prefer to travel with you folk so I may try and come home via that way. I would love to do the GOR in the moke so perhaps that will work.

Do you have return trip plans or a deadline to be home?

Just to bump this thread for those playing at home.

I will definitely joining this convoy. Are the above plans still the plan?

I dare say Hay to Port Augusta is a pretty adventurous stint and a stop will need to be made.

Any suggestions or are we going to play it by ear? Obviously I would prefer to do a longer stint on the Sunday and cruise in at lunchtime Monday to rest up for the departure on Tuesday.

Hopefully there won't be any mad dashing around to fix and amend things.

I need to check if its been posted by where are we planning on staying that Monday night in Port Augusta?

G'day,
We have decided to leave earlier and arrive at Yass service centre
at 8.00am to pick up anyone who wants to meet us then. Then onto
Wagga or the exit from Tumut to meet up with Shorty and co. If that
still suits, probably around 10.30. We can ring when we are getting
closer to let you know when. I'll Pm you all Ruths phone number as I
don't have one. Shorty if you can pm me yours I have the others.

 Cheers Biggles

Good morning All
We are waiting in Dubbo this morning for Woody ,Smithy and Dave G to catch up around lunch time and then heading to Nyngan for the night. Had a good run over from Port Stephens yesterday with the trailer on and found we could get through the hills a little quicker than the loaded trucks which is pretty good
It is all happening now so stand by

            Smokey

Great stuff Smokey :)

Yes, Cyclops and I are also on-route but we'll catch up with you guys in the wild west.

Safe travels peoples.
